This is going to sound like bragging. If so, sorry. The facts are the facts.
As a little boy growing up in Queens, David Leibowitz used to tell everyone he wanted to be a garbage man. That lasted until his mother explained, in her absolutely inimitable way, “Come on, Dave. You hate getting dirty. And you’re really full
of @#*%!”
It’s true what they say. Mother knows best.
Armed with his mom’s accurate assessment of his skill set, David took the only logical route – a career in storytelling – following his days as an undergrad at Florida State University. He added to his FSU degree in English by earning Master’s degrees from Temple University (Creative Writing) and New York University (Journalism). Since “turning pro” in 1992, David’s storytelling stops have included writing columns for The Trentonian newspaper in New Jersey, the East Valley (AZ) Tribune and the Arizona Republic; radio gigs for KTAR and KFYI (Arizona’s two largest news/talk stations); and TV commentaries for KPNX (Channel 12) and KNXV (Channel 15). In that time, he was named the state’s best news columnist, best sports columnist, best feature columnist and best radio host and he’s covered the biggest stories in America, from political conventions to September 11th, the O.J. Simpson verdict to the Columbine shootings.
Simply put, if there’s a story that bears telling, David Leibowitz has told it.
That real-world experience proved especially helpful when David shifted industries in late 2005, moving from daily journalism to a new role as creative director and vice president at Moses Anshell, one of the Southwest’s leading ad agencies. From big clients – the Arizona Office of Tourism, U.S. Airways, and Taser – to the small, but mighty – non-profits like the Arizona Humane Society, EarCandy and New Global Citizens – David worked to elevate the agency’s ability to tell tales. Across four years, working in every advertising medium from print to TV, radio to digital, outdoor to PR to social media, David helped lead Moses Anshell to more than 75 local, regional and national awards.
Among the clients whose stories he helped tell: Ubisoft. Shutters on the Beach. Hotel Casa del Mar. Peter Piper Pizza. The Arizona Department of Health Services. Arizona’s Citizens Clean Elections Commission. World Wildlife Fund. Blimpie. Taser. U.S. Airways. Nintendo. Taglio Salon. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. The Arizona Office of Tourism. AAA Arizona. Canary Hotel Santa Barbara. Douglas Ranch. Maracay Homes. Maricopa Integrated Health System. Performance Designed Products. Arizona Public Service. Suncor. Snell Real Estate. The Nature Conservancy. Xbalm.
David’s next challenge is leading Leibowitz Solo. He very much hopes you’ll be part of that story as it’s written.
